Suitability: a must

There are two complementary meanings to the word “suitable”...

  • in one way, the tool is made suitable, fitting for its function, in such a way that it really is useful,
    --> the tool is "adapted",
  • in another way, people take the tool, see how it can be useful to them and make it their own,
    --> the tool is "adopted".

With an issue as delicate as management (everyone is a bit of a manager at heart, aren’t they?), suitability can only be achieved if the people involved are genuinely parties to both processes: on the one hand they are involved in the design of the tool, and on the other they have the opportunity to use the tool ‘hands on’.

Which is why we propose starting off projects with a pilot experiment, as well as the subsequent subprojects.

This initial pilot phase ensures that the parties concerned are able to master the new concepts from the outset, as well as come up with the changes that that entails and evaluate the potential benefits. At the same time it enables them to understand the way in which the tool operates and foreshadow a whole collection of practical details that will need to be taken into account and decided on, so that subsequently the tool is deemed “suitable”.
