The 7th Amelior BPM Conference in Antwerp ...
TWO Consult has participated to the 7th Amelior BPM Conference "Scoren tijdens de crisis dankzij BPM" which took place in Antwerp on April 21st 2009.
At 11H10, Christoph Carbognin, BEng Univ. of Manchester (UK), Management consultant atTWO Consult has animated a workshop on "How to integrate BPM with SharePoint".
The outline of this workshop is the following :
BPM is a buzz word which means all and nothing, whereas Microsoft's Sharepoint is more and more used as an apparently low cost collaborative platform, for the better and the worse.
Christoph has explained the methods and tools TWO Consult has developed to build a value chain from the modelling and analysis of processes to an effective and collaborative support of their operations based on SharePoint. Taking the case of a claim and returned good process, he showed, in the Excel like tool, the steps of the analysis of the business process, how it evolves into the workflow process model, how the forms elements are collected and designed, how that translates into SharePoint based workflow forms and documents.
He then briefly demonstrated SharePoint and the developed workflow and he reviewed other functions that are needed to support the various Business Process Management activities before concluding, at the business analyst's view point, over the steps of a project and the pros and cons to choose SharePoint for that purpose.
After attending this session, participants got better insight on SharePoint's powerful features compared to ones that appear in a basic end user approach, and on the various aspects and elements they have to take into account if they want to build a BPM oriented platform on SharePoint.
